The resume section listing your academic qualifications, including degrees, institutions, graduation dates, and relevant coursework or honors.
Education Section Explained
The education section of your resume lists your academic credentials. At minimum, include your degree, institution name, and graduation year. You can also add GPA (if 3.5+), relevant coursework, honors, and academic achievements.
Placement depends on your career stage. New graduates should put education near the top of the resume since it is their strongest qualification. Experienced professionals should place it after work experience. As your career progresses, your education section naturally becomes shorter and less prominent.
Example
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Stanford University — 2022 GPA: 3.8/4.0 | Dean's List | Relevant Coursework: Machine Learning, Distributed Systems, Data Structures
How This Relates to Your Resume
If you graduated more than 5 years ago, you can drop your GPA and coursework. Your work experience should carry the weight at that point.
